What is luminight?

LumiNight is an intentional night of honoring and remembering those impacted by cancer hosted by The American Cancer Society. This is done by placing white candle lit bags and hanging paper lanterns along a path, in a park or other public place. Anyone can walk among the hundreds of tributes to friends, family and loved ones at no cost. It is a powerful, moving, and humbling experience to visually see the impact made by cancer in our communities, and highlights the work left to be done in our fight against it.

So many times we get caught up in the bustle of the holiday season and the emotions of facing cancer, a friend facing cancer, or the loss of a loved one to cancer become bottled or passed over. We want to provide an opportunity for our communities to be intentional in taking a moment to approach these emotions in a safe and loving way.

For those wishing to honor their loved one with a luminaria at our community LumiNights please click the link below to see purchasing options. Attending a LumiNight event is free. Proceeds from Luminaria sells benefit The American Cancer Society.
